Acute coronary syndrome is a name for a group of diseases caused by an acute decrease of blood flow to the heart via its coronary arteries. Decrease in blood flow may result in the following:

Introduction

  • Angina pectoris
  • Unstable Angina
  • non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI)
  • ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI)

Angina pectoris

If chest pain is caused by coronary artery disease, it is called angina pectoris or angina.
