Hi Dr T,
I recently was informed that my EKG showed 55% percent in some areas and that certain areas were weak. The nurse couldn’t really explain what the numbers meant – the nurse kept answering my questions with “the doctor will explain more on your follow up visit.” So, what does the 55% and weak in other areas mean?

An EKG can show that damage has occurred to your heart as well as problems with your heart rhythm. This 55% cannot be calculated from an EKG. For that you need a cardiac ECHO:
