Although AF itself usually isn’t life-threatening, it is a serious medical condition. While some people with AFib may feel no symptoms, others may feel palpitations, shortness of breath, weakness, and anxiety. People often aren’t aware of all the serious consequences of this disease, including permanent heart damage, heart attack, heart failure, stroke and death.
