Angelina Moore Maia, MS, RD, LDN
Angelina Moore Maia is a registered dietitian and nutrition therapist who is currently a doctoral student at the University of Maine. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of New Hampshire and a Master’s Degree in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Maine.
After completing her dietetic internship at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Angelina spent two years working as a clinical dietitian at Maine General Medical Center in Augusta, covering both the hospital as well as the affiliated nursing homes. She then moved to Boston, Massachusetts where she worked as a clinical dietitian at Tufts-New England Medical Center for two years.
Angelina most recently worked as an outpatient dietitian at the Cambridge Health Alliance in Somerville, Massachusetts and was the nutritionist for Simmons College in Boston. She has a private Nutrition Consulting business and is an adjunct faculty member at multiple community colleges in Massachusetts.
Pieter A. Tryzelaar, BFA, AA, AA
Pieter Tryzelaar is a classically trained chef with an emphasis in French, Italian and Mediterranean cuisines. He began his culinary career at age 17 and has worked his way up the ranks in numerous restaurants in the Southern Maine area, in addition to earning undergraduate degrees in Fine Arts, Film and Theater. After working for a number of years as a private chef, Pieter next attended culinary school and emerged as one of the top students in his program. He has since continued to work as both a private chef and caterer, with a focus on creating a healthy, rustic, home-style cuisine that utilizes local and farm fresh ingredients. Pieter lives currently on a small organic farm and is a graduate student at the University of Maine, pursuing both MFA and MEd degrees, combining his passion for cooking with multi-media production and instructional design.
Joan F. Tryzelaar, MD, FACS, FACCP, Director
Dr. Tryzelaar retired from a practice in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in 2003. He is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery, a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians.
In 2009, he created cardiachealth.org, an independent website for heart disease and heart healthy living, used by more than 20000 visitors/month worldwide.
He is a lecturer at Tufts University School of Medicine, Boston Massachusetts, where he has been a faculty member since 2008.
He is a visiting professor of surgery of the Cardiovascular Clinic of the University Hospital in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he has been involved with the education of the cardiac surgery residents since 2002.
He lives presently in Portland, Maine, “where the living is good”.
